Student Career Experience Program

The Office of the Secretary of Defense/Washington Headquarters Services (OSD/WHS) offers positions under the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). This program provides an opportunity to earn money while continuing education. Students train with people who manage the day-to-day business of OSD/WHS and combine their academic studies with on- the-job work experiences. SCEP is open to students at all levels: high school; vocational and technical; and associate, baccalaureate, graduate, and professional levels. Under this program, students may be employed year-round on a flexible work schedule.

Job opportunities under SCEP provide work experiences directly related to a student’s academic field of study. The program allows for formal periods of work and study while taking classes. It’s closely monitored and requires a committed agreement on the part of the school, the employing Federal agency, and the student. Under SCEP, students will be eligible for permanent employment upon successful completion of their education and work requirements.

SCEP was created to attract talented students to Federal public service.
